You probably never imagined that in Israel you’d be able to experience ‘Israel’s friendliest musical and social event, a unique bluegrass, folk, country, blues, Irish and World music extravaganza!’ Jacob’s Ladder Spring Festival has been Israel’s leading live folk music festival since 1976, with the Winter Festival first held in 2004.
This year’s Winter Festival promises an impressive range of artists, who herald from such places as Israel, Ireland and the US, who will sing and perform a range of musical stylings, to include acappella with guitar to Indian folk songs and traditional Irish music.
This year’s festival lineup includes the following musical acts:
Colum Sands
Colum Sands, a singer, songwriter and storyteller who hails from Ireland. He has played at previous festivals and is well known for incorporating Irish poems and music into his singing and songwriting.
Debra Cowan
Debra Cowan is a traditional and contemporary folk singer and guitar player, who is coming from the USA in order to be a part of the festival. She is well known for her acappella and will be singing and playing in the festival in Celtic and Appalachian styles.
Maya Johanna, Shay Tochner and Yonatan Miller
The merry trio of contemporary folk singers will be singing songs off of their latest folk album, those well loved tunes by Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen as well as Donovan, Seekers and Vega.
Yaron Peer and Adi Arnon (also featuring Michael Ben Shimon, Nitzan Peri and Amit Shani as musical accompaniment)
Be prepared for a truly unique musical experience, as this group of musicians plays both eastern and western style instruments, including: the Buzak and Afghani Rebab, guitar, bass, saxophone and Nagara drums. The blend will truly be a unique melody of east meets west, as the band plays Indian folk songs accompanied by Hebrew vocals.
CG and the Hammer (with a guest appearance by Ori Beanstock)
The blues duo will be playing an acoustic show of Delta Blues classical tunes as well as unique blues tunes, and will also feature the sounds of Ori Beanstock, an internationall known guitar player (from the band ‘Esta.’)
Roy Dahan (featuring Eyal Yahav on cello)
This contemporary folk musician will play original songs accompanied by piano and cello.
The Bloomers (Daniel Manor, Uri Schleiffer and Philip Khripkov)
Have you ever wanted to hear an Irish whistle? The Bloomers will be playing traditional Irish music, sung by Daniel Manor’s authentic Irish pipes. The group will be playing guitar, fiddle, flute and Irish whistles.
White Water (Asaf Rahimov, Tal Avraham and Eshed Malek)
The group will play guitar and percussions while performing American and Blues spoken word pieces.
In addition to a variety of folk musical stylings, the festival also includes such activities as: dance workshops and sing-alongs, Irish sessions, yoga and tai chi/chi kong demonstrations and sessions, children’s activities as well as access to free camping in the wooded area near the beach. Hotel accommodations in the Nof Ginsoaur Hotel/Vilage are not included. Ticket holders receive entrance to all activities for both days of the festival, as well as all of the described activities.
